Context project, 2017-2019

Context is the project of artist Nadya Sayapina and musician Evgeny Zykovych / JJ.OK.

It is a joint improvisation in live music and live painting which happens in the context of a specific place. The main criterion for selecting locations is a sense of the everydayness of their function and perception by the public. The main idea and essence of each performance is to reproduce a live dialogue and to research how the environment affects it.

A series of audiovisual works is being created during the project. Live-sessions of the Context are held in public places and in the spaces which are closed to visit.

All sessions of the project were collected in an archive including photos, full audio versions of live sessions, video documentation, originals or images of created paintings and text reflections-dialogues of the authors.
