The cycle emerged in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which triggered new waves of migration. The artist collected social media texts – voices of earlier migrants, the new wave, and those who remained, reflecting on choice, loss of home, adaptation, and existential crisis. From this material she created a video diary. Some videos took the form of participatory practice, with contributions from over fifty people through photographs of their abandoned homes, fragments filmed in various countries and audio recordings. Using bodily performance and recurring gestures, the works also link the artist’s story to the collective experience of displacement and reveal its cyclical nature.
